Vision for the Millennium Carillon
The Millennium Carillon will be an excellent carillon concert instrument
that will serve simultaneously as a musical instrument, a monument,
and a work of civic architecture.
Originating within the 16th century townships
of the European Low Countries, carillons have long served as important
civic focal points. As they evolved over the centuries into today's
precision musical instruments, they have become the central point
of pride in their respective communities.
Carillons are rare. Carillons capable of producing beautiful music
are even more rare. The Millennium Carillon meets the highest musical
specifications for a carillon in the world.
The Millennium Carillon Association envisions this carillon as a
statewide endeavor to present free musical concerts for Washington
citizens and visitors.
Such a role makes the Millennium Carillon
an ideal fit with the State's Capitol City. Its presence
will distinguish the region's
growth and commitment to the arts as a signature of civic pride and
values.
